To carbon neutral and beyond… your carbon footprint explained POWER HOUR

Women's Business Club - Managing your Carbon Footprint

In the last 20 years climate change, caused by excessive emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, has gone from a disputed esoteric discussion to a demonstrable scientific fact that is driving both consumer behaviour and government policy. Yet most businesses have only the vaguest notion of what their carbon footprint is and the things they can do to manage it.

Over the next 10 years, the legal, economic and regulatory framework is set to change dramatically as all the mainstream political parties have vowed to make our economic recovery a “green” one. This makes it vital that business of all types and sizes start to understand and manage their greenhouse gas emissions (commonly known as their “carbon footprint”).

  • What does it mean to manage your carbon footprint and why is it important for your business?
  • How much do we need to reduce our emissions and how easy will that be to do?
  • What are the merits and pitfalls of carbon offsetting and tree planting?
  • What will it cost to start “counting carbon” and how much time will it take?
  • Is it all costs or are there benefits to be had from reducing your carbon footprint?
  • Why have over 30% of the FTSE 100 businesses made a “Net Zero” commitment and what does this mean?

In this introduction to counting carbon, Eoin McQuone of Go Climate Positive, will answer all these questions and more, helping you understand what you need to do to start preparing your business for the coming low-carbon economy.

In this masterclass you will discover

  • Why counting carbon matter for your business
  • How to do it right
  • What you need to do to make a start
